The Nelson Food Pantry is located in the connector link between the library and the town hall. The Pantry is free and available to anyone whenever the library or town hall is open. The Pantry is stocked by donations, and at this time offers nonperishables, as well as a good supply of other items.

Please share this information with anyone that could benefit. No questions, no signing anything. More help is available if you want to talk to someone. Church office (603) 847-3208

Food pantry donations are accepted during open hours at the church or call Martha at 603-313-3455 to make arrangements for pick-up or drop-off. Popular items includes:

Afghan Refugee Kitchen Project

A member of our congregation worked with a regional committee sponsoring a number of Afghan refugee families to this area. One of the needs was setting up a kitchen for each family. The opportunity we had was to contribute money for Project Pantry, which helped provide basic food items for each family and allowed them to shop for the food they want.

Earth Action Fund

In living into our vision statement, “Building a vibrant community of faith with all of God’s creation,” we realize the importance of placing the care for future generations at the center of our decision-making process. The Earth Action Fund supports this mission and promotes education, recycling, using biodegradable or reusable items and caretaking our Earth in all ways.

Mission Trips

Recent youth and adult mission trips have taken us to rural Maine, downtown Providence, RI, and the Boston Common. We bring helping hands, big smiles, and sometimes many gallons of paint.

Ladies Aid Scholarship

The Nelson Ladies’ Aid gives up to two scholarships each year to students graduating from Keene High School. Students are eligible if they attended Nelson Elementary School and live in the towns of Nelson or Sullivan. Scholarships are awarded via the Keene High School common scholarship application process. For more information, contact the School Counseling Department at Keene High School at (603) 352-6331.

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is having someone to talk to, who cares. Often it is the minister, but not always. It is the church’s care of the whole community, regardless of faith or church membership. Pastoral care is emotional, social, and spiritual support. It can be a phone call or an in-person visit (in non-pandemic times) at the church or at your home, or multiple calls and visits. Call the church at (603) 847-3280 or email Pastor Eliot Fay at nelsonchurchucc@gmail.com.

Thanksgiving Baskets and Xmas Giving Tree

To make sure the winter holidays are warm for everyone, we provide help to local families in need and to shut-ins in the form of overflowing Thanksgiving baskets laden with homemade food, and, at Christmas, brightly wrapped gifts for children. The church youth bake dozens of homemade cookies and deliver with a Christmas carol on request!

Community of Angels Fund

Funded by generous donations, Community of Angels works behind the scenes to identify people in need in our community and offer financial aid. Please call the pastor if you need help or know someone who does.
