Social Gatherings

Let’s get together, have some fun, and strengthen our ties! There’s something for everyone.

The church sponsors many town activities, as well as partnering with others, so the fellowship hall, lawn, and town common often ring with the sounds of celebration and fun!

First Tuesday Tea, and Nels’ Lunch

Welcome in every new month with friends and a cup of tea! Currently meeting virtually at 10am on the first Tuesday of each month, normal times find us trading off hosting with delicious brunch items arriving in traditional New England “pot luck” style along with friends and neighbors. All are welcome!

Once a month, community members dine out in style (“Dutch treat”) at one of the region’s restaurants. We look forward to resuming this outing when restaurants reopen!

Summer Artisan Fair

Sign up as a vendor or come and browse! It’s a festive day in mid-July with tents covering the town common, talented craftspeople displaying their wares, demonstrations, and a food tent. Don’t miss the strawberry shortcake!

Italian Extravaganza Dinner

Served in Melville Hall by the Cub Scouts (looking dapper in bow ties!), this annual event is always received with hearty enthusiasm and rave reviews.

Coffee hour after church

When we can get together in person again, come downstairs after the worship service for a cup of coffee and a yummy snack. Congregation members take pride in providing a variety of sweet and savory treats.

Ice Cream Socials & Nelson Town Band

Summer and Autumn bring Nelson Town Band concerts on the church lawn with make-your-own ice cream sundaes in a wonderful town tradition that always brings out a crowd!

Cider Pressing, Morris Dancing, Maypole weaving, and more!

Come celebrate the turning of the seasons and Earth’s regenerative bounty through lively and historic folk traditions.

Lend a hand, make new friends!

It can be really fun to volunteer at an event. There are usually a variety of ways to help and the time commitment is just a couple hours. Working at an event helps you get to know your neighbors in a casual easy way.
