Worship Services

Please join us Sundays at 9:30 a.m. as we gather, coming away from our daily obligations and cares, to renew ourselves in the presence of God. We are a spiritually diverse community providing heartfelt support for each other and the wider community as we grow.

Currently we are gathering both in-person and on Zoom. The Zoom link is the same each week. To get on the weekly email list for the bulletin, copies of hymns, and the Zoom link, email Pastor Eliot Fay.

We recognize that church is unfamiliar territory for many people these days; that the look and feel of a church can make people nervous; and that some people’s experience of church in the past may have left them wary. Because of this, we aim to be as welcoming as possible. As our denomination says, “Wherever you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here.”

Our Christian service is inclusive, enlightening and engaging. It’s a safe place to share your concerns and celebrations within a caring community.

Many children have grown up in the Nelson Church, benefiting from the teachings, care and wisdom of community members, teachers and elders. It’s a wonderful village church where confidence is nurtured by inclusion and experience as families grow stronger, together.

Nelson Church is a place to worship, discuss matters of the heart, listen, sing, contemplate, pray, collaborate, create, and play. We practice how to be in right relationship with God: nurturing Christ’s divine presence in ourselves, learning to see the image of God in each other, and deepening our response to care for all of nature as precious in the Creator’s eyes. We celebrate with joy – engaging in service, songs, music, prayers, art, dance, worship, sermons and Scripture.

Bad weather policy

In the event of severe weather conditions that make travel to the church dangerous and/or difficult, we will make the decision to cancel in-person worship and move to an all virtual service. If the in-person service is canceled, we will notify everyone by email no later than 8:00 am Sunday morning. We will also post a notice of cancelation on our website homepage.

COVID-19 precautions

In an effort to be as cautious as possible while gathering for in-person services, we ask that everyone be masked while singing. Also, we will keep social distance to the best of our ability. And of course, feel free to take masks off outside.

If you are feeling poorly or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive or may be positive, please opt to join us virtually rather than in-person.
